Qualifications and Responsibilities- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL – Class
A) with appropriate endorsements. - Experience moving construction equipment is required. Familiarity with local and federal transportation regulations.
- The job consists of moving construction equipment, including safely loading, unloading and hauling the equipment to its destination throughout CT and New England.
- Must understand overweight routing as most of our loads require overweight permits.
- Must be able to apply for and manage their own permits.
- Knowledge of load securing techniques and weight distribution.
- Possess an understanding of the operation of various pieces of equipment, sufficient to load/unload from the transport vehicle.
- Ability to perform routing vehicle inspections and maintenance checks.
- Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to perform all job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ability to work in daytime and nighttime conditions.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with ground crews and dispatch.
Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA and state agencies. Protective equipment required: hardhat, safety glasses, reinforced‑toed shoes, hand protection, safety vest/high‑visibility clothing for any work in the field, and hearing protection.
Physical DemandsThe employee is regularly required to talk and hear, sit, walk, stand, climb, crawl, bend, kneel, reach above shoulders, and lift to 95 pounds for periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, and operation of various pieces of equipment.
WorkEnvironment
The work environment includes frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor conditions that may be cold and icy, and wet or humid conditions. Noise level may be high. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
