Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Office Assistant for the Dean of Students.
Key Responsibilities- Prioritizes and coordinates daily administrative functions, resolves routine issues, and assists with the development and implementation of office procedures and guidelines.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for students, student staff, and visitors, providing accurate information, guidance, and referrals related to commuter student programs, services, and resources.
- Maintains a working knowledge of a broad range of university policies, services, and commuter‑focused initiatives to ensure students are effectively supported and connected.
Nonexempt
Salary Details$17.70 per hour. Final salary may be influenced by qualifications, experience, and availability of department or grant funds; market benchmarks and internal equity also considered.

Part Time – 19.5 hours per week
Working Hours19.5 hours per week, daily work shift schedule to be determined with the Dean of Students.

QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience
- High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and/or 4 years of relevant office experience.
- Ability to multitask seamlessly with demonstrated success in solving complex issues and problems.
- Excellent interpersonal communication abilities and skills to effectively communicate across multiple channels of stakeholders, faculty, student, and staff.
- Experience in a high‑paced office environment with proven success in customer service initiatives.
- Experience in project and event management.

Immunization RequirementsUnder Policy 100.3.1, if employment will commence during Flu Season, the university may require proof of seasonal influenza vaccination unless a medical or religious exemption is granted. Failure to provide proof may result in rescission of the offer or disciplinary action.
