Position: Business Assistant (Temporary)

Overview

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Business Assistant (Temporary) for The Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP).

Responsibilities
  • Provides financial and accounting support; analyzes data and prepares and monitors financial documents/data and reports.
  • Assists with analyzing revenues and expenditures, developing budget proposals and projections.
  • Prepares expenditure analyses, prepares spreadsheets, and reconciles monthly expenditure reports.
  • Ensures that actions have appropriate documentation, justification, backup and approval.
  • Interacts with department personnel to obtain fund sources and details supporting purchases, travel and expense reimbursement requests and other financial actions.
  • Reconciles all travel charges using internal databases and University Cornerstone applications (Expense Management, RU Marketplace, Financial Management).
  • Maintains accurate and reliable financial records; implements systems as necessary to facilitate reporting on account statuses. Reviews accounts to ensure actions are correctly posted.
  • Assists with preparation of financial and salary analyses and reports for the immediate supervisor on a regular basis.
  • Prepares Journal Entries utilizing proper departmental accounts.
  • Acts as back‑up for implementing purchase orders and requisitions, travel reimbursement, and human resources processes. Provides office support.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of accounting, finance, business administration, office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, and/or bookkeeping.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Salary

$20 - $27 hourly
