Posting Summary

The Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey invites applications for one or more full-time Tenure or Tenure-track faculty positions in the Department of Surgery, Division of Acute Care Surgery (ACS), at any appropriate rank.

RWJMS is seeking an exceptional surgeon-scientist at any career stage (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) who is dedicated to developing or maintaining their own independent research program, has a commitment to collaborative work and graduate teaching, and shows the ability to be a leader in the field of surgical research, with a focus on the prevention of high risk emergency surgery.

Successful candidates will have an established track record of publication and funding commensurate with their career stage and a clear intent to pursue an independent, federally-funded research program.

The Department of Surgery, Division of Acute Care Surgery is committed to supporting clinical researchers in Surgery who are dedicated to academic excellence and research that improves the health and wellness of individuals and populations. Successful applicants will receive a tenured or tenure-track academic appointment at Rutgers University with a primary faculty appointment in the ACS Division of the Department of Surgery  addition, they will be eligible for secondary appointments in other schools as relevant, including but not limited to the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, New Jersey Medical School, School of Graduate Studies, or the School of Public Health, as well as appointments at centers/institutes relevant to the successful applicant.

The majority of the faculty member's effort will be dedicated to federally-funded clinical research, but the candidate is also expected to remain clinically active in the ACS division. The position is full-time, tenured or tenure-track, with a competitive start-up, and the expectation of having grant support commensurate with their career stage, and independent federal funding (R01s or equivalent) to support their research time by the beginning of the 4th year on the faculty.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

* An MD or DO degree, or equivalent, and the appropriate board certifications for their career stage

* Postdoctoral research training

* Completion of institutional research training award, e.g., F32, T32, K12, or KL2

* Master's level training or higher in one or more relevant clinical research disciplines

* A research focus on the clinical epidemiology of one or more ACS content areas

* A strong track record of peer-reviewed first author original research articles

* A current individual K-award (K01, K08, or K23 award), R01, or comparable funding

* NIH Loan Repayment Program Awardee, currently pending R01 applications, and/or other evidence…
