Division Chief, Surgical Oncology (Associate Professor - Professor Rank)
A nationally recognized surgical oncologist with proven leadership experience is sought to lead the Division of Surgical Oncology at Rutgers Cancer Institute.
Position Information- Department: CINJ - Surgical Oncology
- Salary: Minimum $451,000 (Associate Professor) or $519,000 (Professor); final base determined by Department and School.

- Research:
- Support collaboration among specialty clinical research programs.
- Encourage participation in cooperative group, industry sponsored, and investigator‑initiated research.
- Publish scholarly articles with emphasis on collaborative reports.
- Secure external funding.
- Collaborate across RWJBH oncology service line for clinical trial research.
- Steward philanthropic funds.
- Teaching:
- Teach students, residents, and fellows as part of the RBHS educational mission.
- Mentor and develop junior faculty per RBHS Appointments and Promotions Guidelines.
- Service: Represent Surgical Oncology at executive‑level leadership meetings.
- Patient Care:
- Maintain clinical activity (60‑70%).
- Support faculty/staff productivity benchmarks.
- Review clinical performance for quality and efficiency.
- Administration:
- Assist Chief Surgical Officer and Department Chair with short‑ and long‑term planning, funding procurement, and sustainability.
- Direct professional activities and projects.
- Recruit and retain faculty and staff.
- Collaborate with nursing and administrative leaders for operational efficiency.
- Ensure comprehensive care through collaboration with related departments.
- Oversee clinical and research resources.
- Ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., JC).
- Collaborate with oncology service line leadership for regional innovation.
- Adhere to RBHS compliance standards and policies.
- MD or equivalent.
- Board Certification in General Surgery and either Board Certification in Complex General Surgical Oncology or at least associate professor level as an academic surgical oncologist.
- Eligible/Active NJ Medical License.
- Proven leadership experience building a clinical program.
- Record of a clinical research program and strong publication record.
- Strong teaching and mentorship skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
