Sociology Part-Time Teaching Fall

Overview

The School of Arts and Sciences, Department of Sociology seeks instructors to teach undergraduate courses in Sociology. Specific courses to be taught will be determined by the department each semester. Courses may be introductory surveys or upper-level courses focused on specific themes or topics. As the instructor of record, the individual is responsible for preparing the course syllabus, delivering lectures, and leading discussions, assessing student work in a timely manner, holding weekly office hours, responding to student emails, and submitting final course grades to the registrar.

This is a part‑time teaching position for the Fall 2026 semester, requiring in‑person instruction. Minimum salary for a 3‑credit course is $8,331 ($2,777 per credit).

Master's degree in Sociology or a related field is required;
Ph.D. in Sociology or related field preferred. Previous teaching experience is preferred.

A concise statement of teaching philosophy and a syllabus for a course previously taught by the applicant is required. The syllabus should be uploaded under other documents. Final candidates may be required to provide reference letters.
