What this job involves: ​ The  Utilities Shutdown Coordinator  is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing critical utility and electrical shutdowns across an expansive 1.9 million square foot campus in North Brunswick, NJ. In this essential facilities role, you will ensure all shutdown activities are conducted safely and efficiently with minimal operational impact across our 18-building campus. You will engage with diverse teams across multiple trades, secure necessary approvals, develop comprehensive safety procedures, and coordinate system restoration activities while managing multiple concurrent projects and facilitating seamless communication between technical teams and operational stakeholders in this dynamic campus environment.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Initiate and document utility shutdown requests while coordinating with operational schedules across the multi-building campus

Review electrical panel schedules and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) to define accurate project scope

Identify and engage internal and external stakeholders affected by planned shutdown activities

Analyze operational, safety, and system impacts to minimize business disruption during shutdowns

Validate backup power systems (UPS, generators) functionality prior to executing shutdown procedures

Facilitate stakeholder meetings and secure formal approvals through clear presentation of technical requirements

Coordinate with JLL facilities teams to schedule onsite support and staffing for shutdown execution

Develop Method of Procedure (MOP), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and secure required permits and authorizations

Oversee high-voltage contractor coordination for electrical work exceeding 40 Cal/4160V systems

Required qualifications:

Minimum 5 years experience in facilities, utilities, or industrial operations (or 3 years with relevant education)

OSHA 30 certification in industrial management

Demonstrated experience with NFPA 70E electrical safety standards

Current Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Arc Flash Training certifications

Proven experience developing Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Method of Procedure (MOP), and work permitting processes

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and project coordination

Experience managing multiple concurrent work orders (5-15 simultaneously)

Availability for planned after-hours work scheduled in advance

Preferred qualifications:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Facilities Management

Experience managing electrical or utility shutdowns in mission-critical facilities environments

Familiarity with high-voltage electrical systems (4160V and above) and safety protocols

Cross-functional knowledge in electrical, HVAC, mechanical systems, carpentry, and plumbing trades

Experience working in office environments with field verification responsibilities

Background in multi-building campus or large-scale industrial facility operations

Knowledge of utility coordination processes and contractor management protocols

Estimated compensation for this position:
95,000. USD per year This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
