Reports To: Production Manager
Description: The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for providing administrative and logistical support for the Production Manager. They will track spending and inventory, prepare statements, and help coordinate mainstage logistics, with activities such as catering, hospitality, and parking. Additionally, in coordination with the Director of Special Events, the Assistant Production Manager will act as the technical representative for the Studio space, and coordinate needs for the events in that space.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Production Manager in preparation of paperwork, such as settlement documents, spending statements, schedules, HR paperwork for Production, and inventory controls.
- Make logistic arrangements for housing, meals, transportation, and in-theatre hospitality.
- Perform data entry for IATSE payroll, both online and in local systems.
- Act as the Production representative for the main stage in the absence of the Production Manager.
- Act as the Production representative for Studio space.
- Coordinate IATSE personnel needs for events.
- Assist with setup of space, including arranging for rental needs and coordination with the Director of Event Services.
- Troubleshoot logistic and production issues.
- Prepare, distribute, and track all appropriate paperwork.
- Attend all necessary internal and external meetings as a representative of the Production Department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related position
- Strong interpersonal and cultivation skills
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to manage a variety of assignments concurrently and meet multiple deadlines
- Ability to work a varied schedule to include nights and weekends as dictated by the performance schedule
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products with emphasis on Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of production management experience.
- Detail oriented and self‑motivated.
- Work well with teams and individuals with a range of experiences.
- Experience with live entertainment operations and logistics.
State Theatre New Jersey is the centerpiece and premier venue for the New Brunswick arts community. State Theatre presents a diverse roster of entertainment, including international orchestras, Broadway, comedy, dance, contemporary concerts, family events, and more. The theater is the state’s second largest not-for-profit presenting hall, which contributes commensurately to New Jersey's $45 million performing‑arts tourism industry, annually attracting more than 200,000 patrons.
In addition, some 30,000 students and teachers annually attend its school performances and participate in its in‑school robust education programs, including the Artist-in-Residence program, Family Day, Milk & Cookies Series, Autism‑Friendly Relaxed Performances, and other outreach activities.
