A leading insurance organization is seeking a strategic and experienced Corporate Tax Director to lead its corporate tax function. This individual will oversee all aspects of tax compliance, reporting, and operational processes, managing a team of 10 professionals. The ideal candidate brings 15+ years of corporate tax experience within the insurance industry and a strong track record of leadership, process improvement, and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the corporate tax function, including federal, state, and local compliance
  • Oversee quarterly and annual tax provision processes under U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting frameworks
  • Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on tax planning, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency
  • Drive process improvements, technology implementation, and automation initiatives within the tax function
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all tax filings and payments
  • Monitor tax legislation and regulatory developments relevant to the insurance industry
  • Manage, develop, and mentor a team of 10 tax professionals, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment
  • Coordinate with external advisors and auditors to support compliance, provision, and audit processes
Qualifications
  • 15+ years of corporate tax experience, with significant time spent in the insurance industry
  • Proven experience managing large teams and leading complex tax operations
  • Deep understanding of tax issues impacting insurance companies (e.g., life, P&C, or reinsurance)
  • Strong technical knowledge of federal and state corporate income tax laws, tax provision (ASC 740), and statutory reporting
  • CPA or advanced degree (e.g., MST, JD/LLM) strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work across functions and influence senior stakeholders
