Rutgers Athletics Full Time Employee

Overview

The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Sports Nutrition and will assist in the daily nutrition operations for Olympic sports at Rutgers University.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinating the daily nutrition operations for Olympic Sports, as assigned
  • Oversee nutrition operations of assigned facilities
  • Manage nutrition services for assigned teams including fueling station management, game day and travel nutrition operations, and training table management
  • Provide nutrition screenings, assessments, and interventions to student-athletes by utilizing all resources available, including body composition and sweat testing
  • Collaborate with sports health staff, including athletic trainers, physical therapists, sports psychologists, team physicians, strength and conditioning staff, and all other team personnel
  • Translate research study findings into applied advice for coaches, medical staff, and student-athletes
  • Provide information and education to coaches, sports health staff, sports performance staff, and student-athletes regarding how nutrition, supplements, and athletic performance are interrelated, and how athletic performance can be positively and negatively impacted by nutrition and supplements
  • Manage the communications, scheduling, and competencies of dietetic interns
  • Perform duties with the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior and in accordance with University, Departmental, Big Ten and NCAA regulations, policies, and procedures
  • The employee shall use all reasonable means to ensure that subordinate employees comply with these rules, regulations, policies, and ethical standards
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor s degree in exercise/sports nutrition, dietetics, or similar course of study
  • RD-eligible or credentialed as a current Registered Dietitian
  • Knowledge of food service quality and safety
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Experience managing multiple tasks while working proficiently under pressure
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with efficiency and effectiveness
  • Skillful organization with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality and discretion in managing personal health information

Preferred:

  • One or more years of directly related professional experience working in collegiate, professional, or other elite athletic setting
  • Master s degree in sports nutrition or exercise related field
Scheduling and Travel
  • Non-traditional working hours, holidays, evenings, and weekends required
  • Travel required during specific periods based on competition schedules
