Training & Consultation Specialist (part-time)
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a part‑time Training & Consultation Specialist for the Center for Public Health Workforce Development within the School of Public Health (SPH). The role is designed to assist in training and consultation services and technical assistance in support of the Community Living Education Project (CLEP).
Position OverviewNew Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS), takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University‑New Brunswick and collaborating university‑wide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and six centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, clinical and translational research, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research.

The Training & Consultation Specialist will plan, organize, direct, conduct, and evaluate family education programs for families of individuals in preparation for their transition.
Responsibilities include:
- Participate in planning with CLEP colleagues and others to increase awareness of community living opportunities for the intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities (/DD) community and their families.
- Build effective relationships with system partners and develop networks to support family cohorts.
- Provide education to families as community living options are explored for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
- Work with family members/guardians to visit potential community living environments based on specific needs and requirements of individuals.
- Assist in curriculum development and/or training and consultation services.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a social science or related field plus four (4) years of experience in a human service or disability education program preferred.
- Knowledgeable about human service and other resources available to serve diverse populations in local communities.
- Demonstrated teaching and training skills.
- Flexible and able to work independently.
- Able to work with individuals, staff, families, community provider agencies and state officials.
- Function effectively as a member of a team.
- Available to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, and ability to implement web‑based training opportunities.
- Valid driver’s license. Job requires travel throughout the state.
- Completion of training in Essential Lifestyles Planning.
- Background in person‑centered planning with persons with disabilities.
- Experience in implementation of self‑direction in disability services.
