Overview

Database Administrator is responsible for management and maintenance of a variety of database environments. They are required to maintain adherence to the data management policy and ensure that databases are secure, backed up, and optimized.

Qualifications
  • Minimum:
    Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, programming, or a related field
  • Experience of SQL and SQL server tools
  • Excellent knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
  • Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling
  • Experience with variety of database technologies (including MySQL, Oracle)
  • Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and other integration, reporting and analytical tools
  • Experience of working with on-prem and cloud based database technologies
  • Power Shell and Unix shell scripting skills
Key Competencies
  • Need to be conversant with structured query language (SQL) and relevant database technologies
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Business awareness and understanding of business requirements of IT
  • Understand coding and service management
  • Good communication, teamwork, and negotiation skills
Responsibilities
  • Assists in database support activities
  • Manage database access
  • Be available for on-call support as needed
  • Performs standard database maintenance and administration tasks
  • Uses database management system software and tools to collect performance statistics
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors
  • Develop processes for optimizing database security
  • Develops and configures tools to enable automation of database administration tasks
  • Monitors performance statistics and create reports
  • Identifies and investigates complex problems and issues and recommends corrective actions
  • Performs routine configuration, installation, and reconfiguration of database and related products
