About the role
As a Desktop Engineer, you will make an impact by ensuring seamless daily operations across desktop, infrastructure, manufacturing, and lab environments. You will support end users, maintain specialized equipment, ensure system reliability, and contribute directly to operational excellence. Your work enables high quality production, secure remote access, and consistent technology performance across the site. You will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with the Infrastructure Specialist.
Inthis role, you will
- Provide advanced desktop and VIP support for on‑site and remote users, ensuring quick resolution of issues and minimal downtime.
- Support manufacturing, lab, and clean room IT environments, including scanners, Zebra printers, tablets, test‑equipment PCs, and production‑line devices.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, mobility devices, and specialized equipment.
- Deliver Smart Hands & Feet support for network, server, and infrastructure teams, including rack‑and‑stack work and vendor access coordination for IDF/MDF/MMR and data center areas.
- Troubleshoot and maintain AV systems (projectors, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, cameras, displays).
- Ensure reliability of site services such as LAN, Wi‑Fi, printing, voice, and video conferencing (including Tandberg).
- Manage full IT asset lifecycle: secure storage, labeling, imaging, allocation, hygiene validation, recovery, disposal, and updates; plus, printer usage monitoring and vendor coordination.
- Support cable patching coordination and assist with power‑shutdown maintenance for network and server equipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, incidents, and asset tracking while ensuring compliance with GMP/GxP.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams and OEM partners to resolve high‑priority issues and improve system reliability.
- Provide user training and promote best practices to enhance productivity and system adoption.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in New Brunswick, NJ or Titusville, NJ.

What you need to have to be considered- 5+ years of desktop support experience and 3+ years of VIP support experience.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and mobility devices.
- Experience supporting both remote and on site users in a hybrid environment.
- Proficiency installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and software systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, lab, or clean room environments.
- Understanding of GMP/GxP processes.
- High attention to detail and strong commitment to quality.
- Pharmaceutical or regulated industry background.
- Experience with AV system troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with data center operations, including shutdown procedures.
- Experience with asset management systems and enterprise IT processes.
- Certification:
CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified:
Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.

Salary and Other CompensationApplications will be accepted until February 15, 2026. The annual salary for this position is between $50,500 - $59,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
