Position Summary

The Manufacturing Optimization Analytics (MOA) team within Business Insights and Technology partners with Bristol‑Myers Squibb’s manufacturing operating units—Pharmaceuticals, Biologics, and Cell Therapies—to support data analytics for all key functions within those units. MOA focuses on answering key business questions that drive prioritized decisions using advanced analytics, data science, and AI across the entire manufacturing value chain.

Job Description

The Manager; MOA is part of a collaborative data science and business insights team dedicated to answering key business questions for the Product Development and Supply (PDS) business units. The Manager reports to the Director;
Manufacturing Optimization Analytics, and develops advanced data analytic tools and AI to support product development, manufacturing, and distribution activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with stakeholders from member functions and BI&T to establish core capabilities within the team:
    • Supporting Business Decisions – work closely with senior leaders to identify priority business questions and embed objective analysis into business conversations.
    • Driving Analytics and Capabilities – answer key business questions using innovative analytical and data science techniques, assist with establishing core analytical capabilities, standards, processes, platforms, and methodologies.
    • Driving Team Productivity and Operational Excellence – ensure adoption of standards, processes, and methodologies by team staff; seek opportunities to enhance team productivity.
  • Conduct detailed team walkthroughs and peer reviews to ensure quality and knowledge management.
  • Lead standardization of analytics and process methodologies in PDS Analytics Development.
  • Author detailed documentation describing analytics tool development, assumptions, input data, data processing, and user manuals for stakeholders.
  • Guide external consultants in adopting standards.
  • Design, develop, and implement business analytics that solve complex problems efficiently and statistically appropriately.
  • Identify new opportunities to leverage analytics, data, and AI.
  • Manage multiple projects from charter to completion, ensuring best practice adoption and appropriate escalation.
  • Act as subject‑matter expert of Bristol‑Myers Squibb technology stack, provide technical leadership for analytics deployment.
  • Drive capability build for data automation, cloud computing, data lake integration, scalable software platforms, and AI.
  • Contribute to defining the overall team strategy.
Qualifications & Experience Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in engineering, pharmaceutical science, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, or other quantitative field with 0–1 year of experience.
  • M.S. in a quantitative field with 1–3 years of experience.
  • B.S. in a quantitative field with more than 3 years of experience.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on work in data science, data analytics, data integration, and reporting.
  • 3+ years of experience with data science and analytics platforms, modeling, data engineering software, and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python, SAP HANA, PowerBI, AWS Cloud).
  • Ability to architect analytic and data science solutions, including platform software solutions and AI.

  • Exceptional project management skills with demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects and priorities.
  • Robust analytical skills with knowledge of data analysis and data engineering.
