Job Summary
A Geospatial IT Infrastructure Specialist will support applications developed by the Center for Remote Sensing and Spatial Analysis, enabling collaborative, interactive web mapping tools for research and project initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead upgrades and maintenance of the Esri ArcGIS Server environment within the Rutgers Virtual Machine Network to ensure reliable delivery of web‑based geospatial services.
- Collaborate with the GIS Coordinator for implementation, production, and republishing of web services for large spatial data sets, including testing throughout the process.
- Provide knowledge support for project and computer system hardware and software needs, summarizing technical information for communication with Rutgers IT to upgrade remote desktop capabilities, backup systems, and software as required.
- Communicate progress, status, needs, and the schedule of work to the CRSSA Director and GIS staff to ensure minimal disruptions to ongoing project activities.
Hourly salary range: $40 - $60 per hour.

Position Status: Part Time
Working Hours: Up to 19.5 hours per week
Work Arrangement: Hybrid work arrangement may be approved per Rutgers policy.

QualificationsMinimum
Education and Experience:
- • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Planning, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience plus five or more years of professional work experience in computer systems operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of ESRI Arc Server and Virtual Machine operating systems, and ESRI Arc Pro and ArcGIS Online administration and support.
- Knowledge of Microsoft desktop computer administration and support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the current Rutgers Virtual Machine operating systems, planned upgrade specifications for the appropriate Arc Server installation, and the GIS datasets and web service formats and instances.
