This role supports the safe and efficient delivery of drug products for clinical studies worldwide. The technician will diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade mechanical equipment throughout the R&D manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, upgrade, and install all mechanical equipment and systems related to N R&D Manufacturing facilities.
- Apply mechanical, utility, and process equipment knowledge required to operate and maintain facilities that manufacture active pharmaceutical ingredients, drug product intermediates, and finished drug products.
- Perform plumbing, pipe fitting, and millwright activities on pharmaceutical mechanical systems, utilities, and process equipment.
- Maintain compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Keep current on all required licensing and certifications.
- Apply reactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance practices in mechanical, millwright, welding, and plumbing/pipe fitting areas (journeyman status required in at least one trade).
- Use blueprints, P&IDs, and drawings to plan and install fluid handling piping, equipment, and systems.
- Utilize new technologies in predictive maintenance (infrared thermography, vibration analysis, lubrication analysis, ultrasonics, laser alignment, etc.).
- Work independently with minimal supervision while supporting other trades.
- Document all work performed in the CMMS system, including work orders, maintenance logs, and regulatory compliance records.
- Perform minor tasks such as rigging, lamp changing, filter changing, and ceiling tile replacement as needed.
- Associate Degree in Science related to Pharmaceutical Development plus specialized mechanical training.
- Proficiency with computer programs and systems essential for PD Mechanical roles.
- Minimum five years of experience in GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing or related field may substitute for the two‑year degree.
- Continual training will be provided, with ongoing testing on specific competencies.
Employees will work with chemical, radiological, or biological agents that may be hazardous if mishandled. All safety procedures and personal protective equipment must be followed, and additional instructions will be provided by the hiring manager.
