Unitex is currently seeking a full‑time, hands‑on Assistant Maintenance Manager to oversee a team of industrial mechanics and porters in our industrial laundry plant located in New Brunswick, NJ. This highly visible position requires you to supervise all aspects of the maintenance department, including personnel, machinery repair, preventive maintenance systems, and building maintenance. It is a very hands‑on role, not an office job.

Sunday – Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM;
Off Friday and Saturday.

• Oversee 11 mechanics and 6 porters.
• Maintain preventive maintenance programs.
• Aid the maintenance team in performing diagnostic troubleshooting.
• Monitor quality of repairs.
• Oversee building and physical plant repair issues.
• Maintain porter schedule to maximize cleaning effectiveness of plant and machinery.
• Adhere to safety programs.

• Must have experience with 480 volts – high voltage.
• Maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience in any setting.
• Knowledge of industrial equipment fundamentals including electrical wiring, electrical components, pneumatic systems, steam systems, water systems, hydraulics, and building maintenance.
• Ability to use basic hand tools properly and safely.
• Experience responding in a time‑sensitive environment with urgency.
• Ability to obtain and maintain proper licensing needed to legally operate specific plant machines (boiler license, etc.).

Position reports to the Maintenance Manager.
