Director, Residence Life (Req.

Caldwell University invites applications for a full-time Director of Residence Life. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Life, the Director will be responsible for providing leadership in creating a positive experience for students living on campus in a way that supports the mission and core values of the University. The Director is responsible for supervision of the Assistant Director of Residence Life, GRD(s), and RA staff, program development, and administration of day-to-day operations.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Organizing and overseeing room assignments. Managing the housing process for all students each semester including summer. Organizing and overseeing room draw, accepting housing deposits, and assigning rooms and roommates to new resident students. Organizing move-in and move-out activities at the beginning and end of each semester. Inputting all billing codes for resident students ensuring their housing charges and meal plan charges are accurate.

    Billing students for building damages. Creating and managing data collection systems and generating reports on housing trends and progress.
  • Responding to crisis situations within the residence halls or involving resident students during and after normal business hours. Referring students to Counseling or Health Services or Title IX/Compliance and other offices as appropriate. Serving on the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT).
  • Recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating the Assistant Director of Residence Life, Graduate Resident Directors (GRD) and other residence life staff.
  • Conducting investigations and hearings. Serving as Conduct Hearing Officer. Enacting appropriate conduct sanctions and/or personal counseling to effectively resolve disciplinary problems.
  • Ensuring resident students adhere to all University policies and procedures including, but not limited to those specific to the residence halls. Communicating all policies, procedures, and updates to students.
  • Working with the Assistant Director in planning and developing residence life programs. Collaborating with other departments and co-sponsoring various programs and activities to enhance the residence hall experience.
  • Coordinating annual room preparation with facilities.
  • Conducting meetings with the Caldwell University facilities director to communicate and resolve ongoing building and maintenance issues.
  • Overseeing the Residence Advisory Board. Meeting with the Residence Advisory Board and serving as moderator at meetings.
  • Coordinating and facilitating use of the residence halls for summer rentals and meetings, in collaboration with Facilities, Security, and others.
