Overview
As the General Manager for our on‑campus transportation operation for a large University Contract, you will oversee operations related to the multi‑campus University contract. The position is based on‑site at the main campus in New Brunswick. You will also oversee operations on the Newark and Camden campuses and work closely with the Perth Amboy maintenance team.
The qualified candidate must have operations management experience in the transportation industry.
Responsibilities- Manage multiple teams of drivers, dispatchers, and administrative personnel
- Oversee customer service, fleet maintenance, and dispatch operations
- Act as the primary liaison between the company and University to resolve issues quickly and maintain high service levels
- Monitor performance against KPIs and service‑level agreements
- Manage employee relations, staffing, training, performance management, and disciplinary action
- Plan, organize and manage the work of terminal staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements
- Review employee productivity, quality control, and other metrics to effectively plan and modify operations
- Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints
- Make recommendations for terminal operations and process improvement
- Recommend ideas to enhance revenue
- Prepare and submit department budgets for approval and monitor expenses
- Enforce policies for vehicle inspection, maintenance, and repairs of vehicles, including preventive maintenance programs, D.O.T. audits, and compliance with federal and state regulations
- Collaborate with safety managers to meet safety regulations and other government guidelines
- Ensure the Terminal is always clean and well‑maintained and that all necessary precautions are taken to provide employees with a safe working environment
- Other duties may be assigned by the C.O.O.
- Ability to manage in a fast paced, high change environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills

- Instinct for process improvement
- Operations management experience in the transportation industry
- Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, DHEC regulations
- Ability to travel and spend time at all locations regularly
