Senior ServiceNow Architect

Role Purpose

Serve as the primary Service Now Platform Architect for a process domain (e.g., HSRD, Source2

Pay, LSD). Own design, delivery, sustainability, and operational readiness of scalable, secure enterprise solutions.

• Platform architecture & delivery: own end-to-end architecture/configuration decisions; translate business needs into scalable solutions aligned to enterprise standards; configuration-first with justified customizations; create architecture/design docs and acceptance criteria.
• Platform engineering & code quality: build server-side logic (Business Rules, Script Includes) with reuse/testability; maintain performant code and automated tests; enforce patterns that protect upgradeability and reduce technical debt.
• Security, access & governance: design/maintain ACLs, role/group strategy, least-privilege access; ensure audit readiness and separation of duties; partner with security/compliance.
• Upgrade readiness & sustainability: refactor/remove risky customizations; support upgrade planning/testing/remediation.
• Domain expertise & collaboration: SME support for backlog refinement, complex incidents, and architectural guidance; mentor developers/integrators.

• 7+ years hands-on Service Now platform architecture/design/implementation (enterprise, not delegated).
• Experience with Business Rules, Script Includes, and ACLs in governed environments.
• Practical knowledge in at least one process area (HSRD/Source2
  
  Pay/LSD).
• Strong technical judgment and communication of design tradeoffs.

• 2+ current Service Now certifications (CIS ITSM/CMDB/ITOM, CAD, CSA).
• Experience planning/executing major Service Now upgrades and remediating upgrade issues.
