Job OverviewRWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for our Intermediate Care Unit (Medical Unit V) at the New Brunswick campus. This unit is a 31-bed unit designed to care for patients whose clinical needs exceed what a general medical surgical unit can safely provide but do not require the full resources of an intensive care unit. The unit cares for adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditions requiring closer monitoring including but not limited to: continuous pulse oximetry monitoring, telemetry monitoring, frequent neurological assessments and frequent vital signs.
The patient population may include patients with multiple medical diagnoses and/or multi-system medical conditions, pre- and post-surgical/procedural needs, or those transitioning from an ICU level of care.
Required:
- ASN or Nursing Diploma
- At least 1 year of acute care RN experience required
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills
Preferred:
- BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire
- At least 2-3 years of acute care RN experience
- National Board Certification in Specialty
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
- Day Shift, 36 hours per week, 7a-7:30p
- Monday - Friday, some weekend and holiday rotation

- The Registered Nurse provides nursing care within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and adheres to ANA code of ethics.
- Maintain safety in practice and advance knowledge of patient care through communication and utilization of resources.
- Report identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the patient population served.
- Supervise and direct the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborate with other care providers.
- Set and evaluate priorities with interventions leading to measurable outcomes.
- Utilize the nursing process to integrate all aspects of care and individualize the plan of care for each patient.
