Rutgers, University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part Time Nursing Assistant for Southwoods State Prison, located in Bridgeton, New Jersey. The Nursing Assistant provides direct care to inmates under the direction of a Physician, Physician's Assistant or a Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse.

• Implements physician/associate practitioner orders within the scope of practice under the auspices of a Registered Nurse.
• Assists with feeding, bathing, and other inmate activities of daily living (ADL's) as needed within the Health Service Unit.
• Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures as needed, including preparing the inmate for the examination.
• Assists with the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.
• Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner.

• Graduate of an approved Certified Nurse Aide program with current certification in New Jersey as a Nursing Assistant.
• CPR Certification.
• Valid Driver's License approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adherence to all DOC requirements.

As a first responder, must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and be physically able to assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).

Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
