Staff Nurse FT Days – UCHC SWSP (Multiple Vacancies)

Full‑time position based at Southwoods State Prison, Bridgeton, NJ. 40‑hour week, Day shift, onsite work arrangement. Salary range: $37,230 – $54,050, commensurate with experience.

Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to address the health care needs of inmates, with a primary focus on ambulatory care.

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of the resident‑patient (adolescents, adults) and their families within the correctional system.
• Performs assessments of resident‑patients in a variety of settings (initial intake, sick‑call unit, emergency situations, chronic care clinics, infirmary).
• Works with a multidisciplinary health care team and security officers in a correctional environment.
• Identifies inmate‑centered goals and nursing objectives; implements prescribed interventions and solutions.
• Plans nursing care based on assessment findings; makes timely referrals and initiates appropriate care in line with institutional policies.
• As team leader or charge nurse, delegates duties to other team members and guides the provision of care by others.

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• License to practice in the State of New Jersey.
• CPR Certification required.
• Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to move between sites.

• Minimum of one year of experience in a correctional setting.
• Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.

Must be able to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes, lift and carry an emergency treatment bag up to 45 pounds, and assist in lifting and rotating patients who cannot ambulate (up to 50 pounds).

Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and comply with all DOC requirements.
