Position Overview
University Correctional Healthcare is seeking a full‑time Staff Nurse for Edna Mahan Correctional Facility, located in Clinton, NJ. The role involves utilizing the nursing process to meet diverse health care needs with a primary focus on ambulatory care within a correctional environment.

- Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of inmate‑patients—both adults (18‑64) and geriatrics (65+), within the correctional system framework.
- Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern, and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.
- Applies current knowledge to promote a safe environment for providing health care to inmate‑patients.
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Minimum of one (1) year of psychiatric experience.
- License to practice in the State of New Jersey.
- CPR certification required.
- Valid driver’s license; own vehicle or alternative means of transportation between sites.
- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
First responder must be capable of performing CPR for at least 10 minutes. Must lift and carry up to 45 pounds and assist in lifting/rotating patients up to 50 pounds.

$37,230 – $54,050 per year, depending on qualifications, experience, and available funding.
Immunization RequirementsUnder Policy 100.3.1, employment during Flu Season may require proof of seasonal influenza vaccination. Failure to provide proof or obtain exemption may result in rescission of an offer or disciplinary action up to termination.
