Staff Nurse FT Nights UCHC EMCFW

University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, delivers physical, mental health, dental and sex offender treatment services within the criminal justice system. The position is located at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility, Clinton, NJ, and involves direct and indirect nursing care to inmate patients (ages 18-64 and 65+).

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care, addressing physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of inmate-patients within the framework established by the correctional system.
• Utilize effective communication skills, demonstrating respect, concern, and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.
• Use current knowledge to promote a safe environment while providing health care to inmate-patients.

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• License to practice in the State of New Jersey.
• CPR certification required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between sites.

• BSN or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a correctional setting preferred.

• First responder capable of performing CPR for at least 10 minutes.
• Physically able to lift and carry an emergency treatment bag up to 45 pounds and assist in lifting/rotating patients up to 50 pounds.

• Must be approved by the Department of Corrections and adhere to all DOC requirements.
