Registered Nurse (RN), Observation Unit - Emergency Department
Pay Range: $47.85 - $71.72 per hour.
The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
Job OverviewRWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for our Observation Unit at the New Brunswick campus. The Observation Unit, also known as the Rapid Decision Unit, is a fast‑paced department that continues the safe medical management of Emergency Department patients until a disposition can be determined.
QualificationsRequired:
- ASN or Nursing Diploma
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills
Preferred:
- BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire
- At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience
- National Board Certification in Telemetry, Stroke, or Trauma
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
- Night Shift, 36 hours per week, 7 p‑7:30 a
- Monday – Friday, with some weekend and holiday rotation
- Part‑time (PT)
- The Registered Nurse provides nursing care within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
- The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of evidence‑based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience, and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team through communication and utilization of resource persons and programs available.
- The Registered Nurse reports identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors.
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
- The Registered Nurse supervises and directs delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
- The Registered Nurse consistently sets and evaluates priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
- The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizing the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizing the plan of care to address a specific patient's needs.
