Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Outpatient Oncology Clinic position requiring at least one year of outpatient oncology experience and an active NJ or Compact RN license.

Details
  • Work in an outpatient oncology clinic setting within a cancer center
  • Nurses are partnered with a specific tumor group seeing patients for exams on designated days of the week
  • Day shift schedule of 4x10 hours from 7:30am to 6:00pm
  • No weekend or holiday shifts required
  • Floating required among clinics within skillset
  • Patient ratios vary based on census, staffing, and patient acuity
  • Uses EPIC charting system
Requirements
  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required; OCN certification preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of outpatient oncology experience required
  • Ambulatory care experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Skills in IV therapy/infusions and chemotherapy administration required
  • Experience monitoring chemotherapy and recognizing/communicating abnormal lab values required
  • Experience with patient/family education and psychosocial care required
  • Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, central line care, central line blood draws, advanced directives, and hospice care
  • Experience caring for patients with leukemia and blood dyscrasias required
  • Preferred experience with lymphoma, multiple myeloma, bone marrow transplant, and stem cell therapies
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE required; neutropenic precautions preferred
  • Current references required
  • Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care within a specialized tumor group in the outpatient oncology clinic
  • Administer and monitor chemotherapy treatments
  • Provide psychosocial support and education to patients and families
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Business casual attire is acceptable; scrubs are also permitted
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 1 year to be eligible for travel assignments
  • Requested time off should be submitted with less than 7 days requested and should not include holiday time off for prioritized consideration
  • Availability required for 2 of 3 major holidays unless otherwise specified
