American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position requiring NJ or Compact licensure and Chemotherapy certification.
Details- Work in the Medical Surgical Oncology unit of a hospital environment
- Oncology patient population with 1:4 patient ratios
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- 13-week assignment length
- Required to work every other weekend based on unit needs
- Floating required within skillset, including to the connected main campus
- Uses EPIC charting system
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Active NJ or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Chemotherapy (ONS/ONCC) required, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred - Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Skills in IV therapy/infusions, chemotherapy administration, and port access/management preferred
- Experience managing oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis and sepsis
- Experience with continuous and IV push chemotherapy administration
- Knowledge of cytotoxic spill management and body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
- Previous charge experience preferred
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Provide medical surgical oncology nursing care including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- Recognize and manage treatment side effects and biotherapy-related complications
- Ratios vary based on census and staffing, with floated RNs assigned ratios based on patient acuity
- Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays unless otherwise specified
- Block or special scheduling requests cannot be accommodated unless approved at time of booking
- This assignment is expected to be the traveler's primary work schedule
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 1 year to be eligible
