Posting Summary

The fellow will work with Dr. Vincent Lo Re, Professor of Medicine in the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Director of the Rutgers Pharmacoepidemiology and Treatment Science (PETS) Center and other faculty in the PETS Center. The successful Postdoctoral Research Associate candidate will further develop research skills under the mentorship of Dr. Lo Re through contributing to NIH and other HHS-funded research in the areas of pharmacoepidemiology, medical devices, and use of real-world data.

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will lead impactful research studies focusing on medical devices, lead the drafting and implementation of research protocols, publish in scientific journals, and have opportunities to present methods and research findings. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow would be expected to participate in regular research team meetings, relevant national and international research conferences, and lead the preparation of high-quality original research manuscripts.

PETS was formed to create an interdisciplinary locus for world-class research and training in pharmacoepidemiology r the past 9 years, PETS has developed into a major research center, recruiting numerous core, affiliate, and adjunct faculty, and has accrued a highly experienced team of highly trained administrative and analytic staff. The current PETS Center core faculty have been funded by numerous R01s, K awards, and research foundation awards.

PETS Center faculty work on a variety of topics in pharmacoepidemiology and related fields, including traditional medical product safety studies, comparative effectiveness research, pharmacoepidemiologic methods, clinical epidemiology, and health services research. They regularly collaborate with researchers across campus, across the US, and internationally, including colleagues from academia, industry, and government. Center faculty and trainees have access to a variety of national electronic health record-based and claims-based real-world data sources.

PETS faculty members serve on US FDA Advisory Committees; study sections at the National Institutes of Health; committees at the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine; and in various roles within clinical and research organizations, particularly the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology, where PETS Center faculty serve in numerous leadership roles.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

* A doctorate degree in pharmacoepidemiology, clinical epidemiology, epidemiology, biostatistics, health outcomes, health services research, real world evidence, or related field.

* Knowledge in medical device and pharmacoepidemiologic research methods along with experience, or interest, in EHR-based research.

* Experience with conducting research in administrative claims data and programming skills in SAS or R.

* Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, and the ability to present scientific findings in various formats and to compose manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

* Ability to work well independently and in a collaborative team environment including research analysts, scientists, as well as other PETS Center trainees and faculty.

* Excellent organizational, planning, project management, and problem-solving skills.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Develop and support the preparation of scientific protocols and statistical analysis plans for funded research studies.
