Genomic Instability and Cancer Genetics – Tenure Track (Assistant/Associate)
The Genomic Instability and Cancer Genetics (GICG) Research Program at Rutgers Cancer Institute seeks an outstanding investigator to establish an innovative, independent research program focused on the mechanisms of genomic instability, cancer genome evolution, and translational applications. This faculty appointment is at the Assistant or Associate Professor level and may be tenure track or tenured depending on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead a high‑impact research program in cancer genetics and genomics, integrating mechanistic, computational, and translational approaches to understand how genomic instability drives cancer progression and to identify therapeutic vulnerabilities.
- Translate basic discoveries into clinical studies, collaborating with clinicians and participating in joint research projects.
- Publish a strong record of peer‑reviewed research papers in top journals.
- Secure independent peer‑reviewed funding (e.g., NIH, foundations) and manage the fiscal responsibilities of a research program.
- Participate in teaching activities for medical students and residents, including lectures and mentorship.
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations within the Rutgers Cancer Institute and partner institutions.
Qualifications
- PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in a relevant discipline with completed postdoctoral or equivalent research training.
- Strong publication record in cancer genetics, genomics, or related fields.
- Clear potential to acquire independent peer‑reviewed funding.
- Outstanding academic credentials and a track record of independent research.
- Optionally, experience in cancer genetics, DNA repair, tumor microenvironment, or cancer predisposition syndromes.
- Excellent communication, teaching, and collaborative skills.
