Postdoctoral Research Associate in Pharmacoepidemiology

Eligible candidates will work with Dr. Vincent Lo Re, Professor of Medicine and Director of the Rutgers Pharmacoepidemiology and Treatment Science (PETS) Center. The position focuses on pharmacoepidemiology, medical devices, and real‑world data research, including designing protocols, performing data analysis, and publishing results. The role has a possible extension subject to funding and performance.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement study protocols and statistical analysis plans for NIH and other HHS‑funded projects.
  • Analyze administrative claims, EHR, and other real‑world data using SAS or R.
  • Interpret and present study findings through manuscripts, conference presentations, and team meetings.
  • Collaborate with research analysts, scientists, and PETS Center trainees.
  • Maintain project timelines, documentation, and compliance with funding agency requirements.
Qualifications
  • Doctorate in pharmacoepidemiology, clinical epidemiology, epidemiology, biostatistics, health outcomes, health services research, or related field.
  • Knowledge of medical device and pharmacoepidemiologic research methods and interest in EHR‑based research.
  • Experience conducting research in administrative claims data and programming in SAS or R.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including manuscript preparation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational, planning, project management, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with high‑impact, multi‑institutional studies.
  • Familiarity with large integrated health data sets (Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance).
  • Demonstrated leadership in research teams and conference participation.
