Position Overview
A Post‑Doctoral Researcher is sought to assist in all phases of the Eastern Pacific Cloud, Aerosol, and Precipitation Experiment (EPCAPE) and may also contribute to a separate NSF project on process mechanics in marine boundary‑layer clouds. The successful applicant will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing field campaigns, processing remote‑sensing and in‑situ data, and disseminating results through publications and presentations.
Responsibilities- Design and conduct field measurements, including deployment of the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Mobile Facility and supporting instrumentation.
- Process and analyze Doppler lidar, radar, aerosol, and microphysical data to characterize sub‑cloud turbulence and cloud droplet distributions.
- Integrate in‑situ aerosol and microphysical assays with remote‑sensing observations to investigate aerosol‑cloud interactions.
- Prepare scientific manuscripts and conference presentations; attend conferences and present findings.
- Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in marine boundary‑layer cloud microphysics, cloud droplet nucleation, aerosol measurement and characterization, and remote sensing using active sensors.
- Record of peer‑reviewed publications that showcase process‑level understanding of marine cloud microphysics.
- Proficiency in MATLAB or Python scripting.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers.
- In‑depth knowledge of marine boundary‑layer thermodynamics, mesoscale circulations, and decoupling.
- Medical, prescription drug, and dental coverage.
