Director of Neurotechnology Innovation Center at Rutgers Brain Health Institute Position Summary
We seek an accomplished scientist or physician‑scientist to lead the new Neurotechnology Innovation Center (NTICe) within Rutgers Brain Health Institute (BHI). The incumbent will hold a tenure home in the Department of Neurosurgery and will build a world‑class research center supporting interdisciplinary collaborations among basic and translational scientists, clinicians, engineers and industry partners to accelerate innovative neurotechnology from bench to bedside for neurological and psychiatric diseases.
Responsibilities- Lead development and advancement of NTICe mission, including securing multi‑million‑dollar resources and external funding.
- Develop mechanisms to foster new interdisciplinary collaborations across Rutgers departments, schools, and partner institutions.
- Maintain an active personal research agenda and conduct translational research, including early‑stage clinical trials and/or startup activity.
- Serve as a core member of BHI and coordinate with the Tulip of research centers (Alzheimer’s, Autism, Addiction, Advanced Human Brain Imaging, and Computational Cognitive Neuropsychiatry).
- Engage with industry partners and emerging technologies such as brain‑machine interfaces, neural prosthetics, gene‑based neuromodulation, and related neurotechnology.
- Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
- Established track record of federally funded research with active U.S. federal funding.
- Experience translating research into early‑stage clinical trials and/or commercial start‑ups.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to organize and coordinate multidisciplinary collaborations.
- Strong publication record in translational neuroscience, neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, or biomedical engineering.
- Background in neurotechnology, including brain‑machine interfaces, neural prosthetics, or gene‑based neuromodulation.
- Experience with interdisciplinary team leadership and grant writing.
- Proven ability to secure external grant support and industry partnerships.

Salary range: $150,000 to $350,000. Final offer based on qualifications, experience, funding, market benchmarks, and internal equity.
