Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
- High school/vocational school education or equivalent with coursework completed in the relevant science area(s) plus one year of research study experience; an equivalent amount of college-level study in an appropriate science curriculum may be substituted for the experience.

Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Practical understanding and a working knowledge of basic scientific techniques. Ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats. Experience in fish maintenance and general techniques of molecular and developmental biology including DNA/RNA manipulation, gene expression staining, and animal genotyping. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to follow research protocols with significant attention to details. Willingness to learn new experiments, and strong organizational and record keeping skills.

Participation in required occupational health and safety programs. Two years driving experience, and successful completion of the Rutgers's Defensive Driving Course.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fish maintenance or embryology. Passion for fish keeping, comparative anatomy, or computational analysis.

- Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.

- This position will require working in the evening and/or weekends.
