Temporary Research Assistant
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant within Radiation Oncology at the Rutgers Cancer Institute. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator or designee, the Temporary Research Assistant will assist in research on the lab grant deliverables. The incumbent will review, provide quality control, and analyze study data.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: works under the direction of the PI or his/her designee. Responsible for executing laboratory tasks as outlined by the Principal Investigator or a senior member of laboratory team. Performs functions as directed for experiments that are proposed in the grant, under the direction of the principal investigator and other designated lab members. Maintains department database on a computer.
Candidate must have competent computer skills and be able to utilize equipment and technology in support of the assigned project(s). Must possess effective oral and written communication skills and ability to summarize scientific research process and communicate project findings.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Genetics, Biology, or a relevant science.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is also essential. Effective oral and communication skills. Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Interaction with Rutgers, RWJMS, CINJ, and RWJUH management, administrative, clinical and laboratory staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year of related research/project experience is preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment - PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Lab environment. Moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
