Position Overview for Sous Chef:We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to assist in leading our culinary team in preparing delicious, nutritious meals for our residents. Ideal candidates will have prior experience cooking in an assisted living setting, with a strong background as a cooking supervisor being highly preferred. In this role, you will oversee meal preparation, ensure adherence to dietary guidelines, and uphold high standards of food quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities as a Sous Chef:- Assist in managing daily kitchen operations, including supervising staff and ensuring timely meal service.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of appetizing meals that meet residents’ dietary restrictions and preferences, ensuring proper temperature and presentation.
- Maintain sanitation and safety standards, ensuring compliance with health regulations and licensing requirements.
- Follow and adapt menus and recipes, including therapeutic diets and special meal plans.
- Collaborate with food service staff and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient meal service.
- Support quality assurance initiatives, including food quality, presentation, and safety protocols.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Education Requirements:
- Prior experience in cooking within an assisted living or senior living environment highly preferred.
- Experience as a cooking supervisor or in a leadership role in a culinary setting is highly preferred.
- High School Diploma (or GED) required; culinary degree or relevant certifications preferred.
- Knowledge of food handling, sanitation practices, and relevant licensing requirements.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to providing exceptional dining experiences for residents.
