Finance and Accounting Assistant (part-time) Overview

Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a part-time Finance and Accounting Assistant for Mason Gross School of the Arts ( MGSA ). Reporting directly to the Budget Analyst Supervisor, this position provides support in business and accounting for the MGSA Business Office. Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Prepares a variety of financial transactions, including and not limited to, procurement, journal entries and project cost adjustments, and payroll.
- Reconciles expenditures and commitments and maintain financial tracking database
- Prepares and distributes recurring financial reports.
- Serves as a liaison with Accounts Payable, Payroll, Procurement, and other administrative offices to resolve financial and operation matters.

Salary Details$25 - $30 per hour

Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in budget, accounting or finance.
- Two years of relevant experience.
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ( GAAP ).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
