Marine Field Worker (Autonomous Surface Vehicle)

40 hours per week. Shift: Day. Work Arrangement: fully on‑site. Position Type:
Temporary Staff Appointment – Hourly.
- Assist in the operation, data collection, and post‑mission data processing of the Jacques Cousteau Reserve’s Autonomous Surface Vehicle (Sea Robotics M1.8 Surveyor ASV) and associated sensors including the Edgetech 2205 Sonar System and a Velodyne LiDAR puck.
- Minimum education:
High school/vocational school education or equivalent experience. - Valid driver’s license required.
- Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field. - Background in marine science or marine operations with experience in deployment and maintenance of marine technologies.
- Experience completing mapping missions with multibeam/side‑scan sonar.
- Experience with HYPACK and Sonar Wiz for mission planning and post‑processing sonar data.
- Occasional work on a small vessel at survey locations in the bay.
- Ability to lift 60–80 lbs. when launching and retrieving the autonomous surface vehicle.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied conditions.
- Work will be conducted primarily at the Rutgers Marine Field Station in Tuckerton, NJ.

Immunization RequirementsUnder Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
