Auxiliary High School Security Guard - Burlington

Overview

Commissionaires Hamilton is seeking up to 2-4 Licensed Security Guards for security roles in high schools in Burlington and Oakville. Placement would be developed upon hire. The successful candidate will act as an auxiliary uniformed security presence for various selected high schools in the Halton Region Catholic School Board. The successful candidate must be able to attain a Vulnerable Sector Clearance for close involvement with minors.

• Ensure the safe arrival and departure of students onto and off school grounds.
• Patrol hallways to ensure safe movement of students between classes and help prevent unwanted activity among students.
• Identify trespassers on school property and ensure their removal from school grounds.
• Be aware of and enforce school policies regarding student activity.
• Perform other security duties as described by school management. As a Regional Auxiliary guard, successful candidates could be employed at different schools within the region.

• Security Guard License (required).
• First Aid Certificate (required).
• Ability to attain Vulnerable Sector Clearance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian driver’s license and access to a vehicle to attend shifts within the Halton Region (as applicable).
• Available for day shifts, 7-8 hour shifts, and 3-15 shifts per month as per emergency or on-call schedule.
• Strong observation and interpersonal skills; ability to follow school policies and report incidents appropriately.

• Pay: $19.00 per hour.
• Additional pay: overtime pay, disability insurance, employee assistance program.
• Annual disbursement (when applicable) and monetary awards for work milestones.
• Referral bonus.

In-person at assigned school placement with potential placement at different schools within Halton Region.

Schedule details: as per emergency or on-call notification; day shift; typical 7-8 hour shifts;
Monday to Friday availability; anticipated workload of 3-15 shifts per month.

A valid Ontario Security Guard License and Emergency First-Aid CPR/AED certificate are required. A vehicle or access to a vehicle to attend shifts is required. Applicants may be asked to provide documentation and undergo background checks for security clearances.
