Java developer role at JSR Tech Consulting in Newark, NJ (Hybrid).
Payrate: $65-$75 per hour.
- Lead and execute migration from legacy Java applications to modern Java frameworks.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize enterprise-scale applications across old and new Java frameworks (EJB, Spring Boot, etc).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy high-quality software solutions.
- Integrate AI-assisted development tools, focusing on using Claude.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior developers.
- Ensure code quality, security, and performance across systems.
- 15+ years of professional Java development experience.
- Proficiency in old and modern Java frameworks, old web servers (e.g., Websphere) and new infrastructure (AWS ECS or Kubernetes).
- Hands‑on experience in Java modernization/migration projects.
- Expertise converting legacy Java codebases to updated architectures.
- Experience consuming and developing APIs; implementing SOA patterns; and working with web service technologies such as APIs, REST, JSON, SOAP, XML, JDBC, MySQL.
- Knowledge of unit, integration, and end‑user testing concepts and tooling (functional & non‑functional).
- Experience with automated testing.
- Software security skills including secure coding, web application security, Dev Sec Ops ; solid grasp of authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signatures, JWT, SSL, web service proxies, firewalls, SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0.
- Dev Ops tools & practices:
Branching with Git Hub or Bitbucket; CI/CD with Jenkins or Git Hub Actions. - Familiarity with SDLC monitoring and logging techniques.
- Familiarity with Claude AI coding capabilities.
- Strong problem‑solving, debugging, and optimization skills.
- Ability to work independently and in teams with minimal supervision.
- Must be located in New York or New Jersey.
- Experience in the insurance industry.
- Japanese language proficiency is a plus (not a must).
- Portfolio or Git Hub repositories showcasing similar Java migration projects.
- Live coding in interview sessions to demonstrate technical skills.
