SD Solutions is seeking an experienced Service Now Architect to support the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) IRWorks enterprise Service Now environment. The Architect will provide technical leadership, enterprise architecture, platform governance, solution design, integration architecture, and modernization support across a complex, multi-module Service Now ecosystem. The ideal candidate has extensive experience designing and governing enterprise-scale Service Now solutions in Federal environments and possesses a Service Now Certified Technical Architect (CTA) credential.
Key Responsibilities- Lead enterprise Service Now architecture, technical design, and platform strategy.
- Develop scalable solutions aligned with Service Now best practices and out-of-the-box functionality.
- Provide architecture across ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, CMDB/CSDM, CSM, HRSD, SPM, Sec Ops/GRC, and other enterprise Service Now capabilities.
- Establish architectural standards and review proposed customizations and deviations from out-of-the-box functionality.
- Design Service Now integrations with internal and external systems using REST/SOAP APIs, Integration Hub, MID Servers, OAuth, SAML, LDAP, and related technologies.
- Develop and maintain solution, integration, data, and infrastructure architecture documentation.
- Provide technical oversight for Service Now developers, administrators, and third-party development teams.
- Support Service Now upgrades, releases, platform optimization, and roadmap development.
- Design secure, scalable Service Now environments supporting Federal security and operational requirements.
- Support CMDB architecture and implementation of Service Now Common Service Data Model standards.
- Evaluate emerging Service Now capabilities, including Now Assist, Generative AI, and Agentic AI.
- Participate in architecture reviews, technical governance, Agile planning, and executive briefings.
- Support platform performance, availability, security, and Filing Season readiness.
- 8+ years of Service Now / Enterprise Service Management architecture experience.
- At least 2 years supporting Federal Government environments.
- Demonstrated enterprise Service Now solution architecture experience.
- Strong experience across ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, CMDB/CSDM, and related Service Now modules.
- Experience designing complex Service Now integrations and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience with platform governance, security, scalability, performance optimization, and architecture reviews.
- Ability to communicate technical architecture effectively to both technical and executive stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
Required CertificationsService Now Certified Technical Architect (CTA) - Required
Preferred CertificationsService Now Certified Master Architect (CMA)
Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA)
Relevant Service Now Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certifications
Key Technical Skills Security / AccessMust be capable of obtaining and maintaining IRS MBI / Tier 2 Moderate Risk suitability. Current or prior IRS MBI is strongly preferred.
Ideal Candidate ProfileAn enterprise Service Now architect who can operate as the technical authority for a large Federal Service Now ecosystem and has experience balancing out-of-the-box functionality, platform governance, integrations, security, scalability, and mission-critical availability.
