Position Details
Teacher – Middle School Social Studies (Job ) – Calvin R. McCullough Middle School –
Start Date:
August 2026 – Reports to Principal – Work year: 10 months – Compensation: see current teacher salary scale on District website.
To provide high‑quality instruction that enables students to make meaningful academic, social, and emotional progress, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Minimum Requirements- Valid Delaware State certification as a Middle School (or Secondary) Social Studies Teacher.
- Acceptable criminal background report and no entries on the Child Protection Registry.
- Successful completion of Praxis II tests and student teaching placement.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Master’s preferred).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, administration, and the general public.
- Evidence of knowledge regarding evidence‑based strategies to promote student learning and achievement.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to issues impacting diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups.
- Proficiency in technology, including Microsoft and Google applications, Classlink, Schoology, Infinite Campus, etc.
- Demonstrated understanding and ability to perform job‑related tasks.
- Regular attendance is essential.
- Capability to teach remotely and in person as needed.
- Design and deliver instruction aligned with Common Core State Standards using district‑approved curriculum.
- Differentiated instruction using varied strategies for diverse learning styles and levels.
- Implement and monitor evidence‑based behavioral and social‑emotional interventions and maintain a structured classroom management system, following Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention expectations.
- Administer, collect, and interpret formal and informal assessment data to guide instruction and report progress to families and the district.
- Develop and deliver weekly lesson plans incorporating technology and instruction‑strategic resources.
- Communicate regularly and proactively with families, participate in IEP meetings, eligibility determinations, and other required meetings.
- Maintain current certifications and stay current on evidence‑based instructional strategies and technology.
- Attend professional development and mandated training, and engage in self‑selected professional learning.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal or supervisor.
Regular use of hands and fingers, frequent standing, walking, sitting, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Requires visual acuity for close and distance vision, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus.
Pre‑Employment Requirements- Criminal background check older than one year.
- TB test results older than one year.
- Copy of Social Security Card.
- I‑9 form with appropriate identification.
- Child Protective Registry check.
