This position is assigned to the Pharmacy Department within DMMA. The Pharmacist Compliance Officer supports compliance activities related to pharmacy and physician-administered drug services, including prior authorization reviews, claims auditing, and departmental initiatives.

- Conducts statewide inspections at health care facilities pharmacies, practitioner offices, correctional institutions, distributors and manufacturers.
- Reviews work of research pharmacy consultants in statewide public and private health care facilities.
- Reviews work of researchers and pharmacy consultants.
- Conducts follow-up inspections to ensure that corrective measures are taken.
- Prepares a variety of related reports and recommendations for list of controlled substances and regulatory changes.
- Provides interpretation and education information relative to State and Federal laws governing pharmacy services.
- Provides pharmacist coverage in State pharmacies in cases of emergencies and/or staff shortages as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Pharmacist Compliance Officer
- Possession of a Delaware Pharmacist license or eligibility for a Delaware license.
- Six months experience— in practicing as a pharmacist.
- Six months experience in interpreting state and federal pharmacy laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of dispensing procedures, drug distribution systems and contract requirements pertaining to pharmaceutical services.
- Knowledge of Pharmacy dispensing computer systems.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
Conditions of HireAll new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.
