Summary Statement

The incumbent in this position will be assigned to the System Unit at the Division of Child Support Services.

Duties include:

  • DECSS and RAPID user support triage of system issues reported by users.
  • Generation and tracking of Help Desk tickets using Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
  • DECSS and RAPID table administration.
  • Batch error research and results verification.
  • User Acceptance testing of bug fixes and new systems functionality.
  • Systems documentation updates and SQL query generation and analysis.
  • Answering customer inquiries with issues with client‑facing applications.
Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.

  • Assist program managers in the computerization of agency information systems by identifying data/user needs, defining applications and making recommendations for new or enhanced automation of program information and computer system requirements.
  • Analyze current automated and non‑automated information systems design and performance and recommend new/modified or deleted computer applications to ensure computer systems match the agency's informational needs, goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate with program managers and application support staff to troubleshoot and correct system errors and schedule system development, enhancement, testing and implementation; may oversee the work of contractors.
  • Develop design and programming specifications for automated information processing systems, may prepare requests for proposals and evaluate proposals, and provide data requirements to application support staff throughout the design and programming phases of a project.
  • Plan for and coordinate testing of applications or test computer applications by creating test data, analyzing the system's action and determining critical system performance to ensure applications meet user needs.
  • Assist as a team member in the establishment, implementation and monitoring of data processing standards for the agency.
  • Conduct user orientation and training for modified or new information system capabilities.
  • Design and develop reports, forms, files, computer screens and other tools for maximum efficiency and optimum workflow and in accordance with agency requirements.
  • Maintain liaison with DTI, other state agencies, other states, vendors and the federal government to keep current on and provide input to standards and to plan for the development and maintenance of systems.
  • Prepare memos, reports and computer operating manuals for use by management and operational staff expressing computerized information systems using charts, matrices and graphs.
  • Responsible for the security of automated system information authority for assignment of user passwords.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation.
Job Requirements
  • Six months experience in information systems analysis and design.
  • Six months experience in conducting information systems needs and requirements analysis.
  • Six months experience in technical report writing.

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non‑pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
