Compensation:
Refer to current teacher salary scale on District website Work Year: 10 months
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) degree
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience
- Current Registered Nurse License recognized by the Delaware Board of Nursing
- Valid and current CPR/AED certification
- Acceptable Criminal Background Report and no entries on the Child Abuse Registry
- Proficient in technology;
Microsoft Office and Google applications - Demonstrates understanding and ability to perform job-related tasks
- Knowledge of the assessment of children and adolescents to effectively identify health issues and provide appropriate care
- Ability to manage chronic health care conditions including, but not limited to, providing enteral feedings, medication administration, diabetic monitoring and intervention, seizure management
- Implementation of emergency action plans as prescribed by the student's physician
- Demonstrates sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups
- Provide direct care for students: acute illness, injury, and emotional needs; manage chronic conditions (ie: student care plans, emergency care plans)
- Support the safety and well-being of all students by following school entry requirements and following state regulations
- Administer first aid in accordance with the established first aid procedures.
- Follow Standing Orders.
- Administer medication and treatments according to Physician orders.
- Provides health information on students to the school IEP/504 team.
- Create Individualized Healthcare Plans for students as needed.
- Observe students on a regular basis to detect health needs.
- Review field trip documentation and prepare medications for use on the trip/Attend field trips with students as needed.
- Comply with Federal, State, and Local Regulations and Policies.
- Accurately completes all required paperwork within the designated timelines.
- Utilizes all available resource materials (i.e. Employee Handbook, District website, Collaborative Agreement, Professional Code of Conduct, Administrative Procedures, School District Board Policies, etc.) to complete required paperwork, maintain professionalism and to avoid potential violations/noncompliance.
- Remain current in school nursing research and best practice.
- Attend in-service programs, mandated training and self-selected workshops, conferences, courses etc.
- Read journal articles, investigate internet resources, and collaborate with school nurse colleagues and other professionals and/or mentors.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to improve access to healthcare services for students.
- Maintain school nurse certification, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification by monitoring status, including Clock Hours, on the DEEDS website.
- Complete the School Nurse Certification Induction Program
- Assists administrators in developing school health programs
- Conducts vision, hearing, and postural gait screenings per Delaware regulation.
- Maintains student health records per Delaware regulation.
