The Department of State (DOS) seeks to increase the number of applicants for clinical nursing positions by offering a recruitment incentive to eligible Advanced Practice Nurse, Nurse Consultant, Nursing Supervisor, Compliance Nurse, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Certified Nursing Assistant candidates in accordance with the DOS Recruitment and Referral Incentive Program.
The Program Provides Incentives As Follows- Recruitment incentives will be paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire and will begin after the first quarter of employment. New employees accepting this recruitment bonus must commit to two consecutive years of employment with DOS. You must be a new employee to the state to be eligible for this incentive.
- Referral bonuses of $1,000 are available to current DOS employees who refer new hires to the state in the following classifications:
Advanced Practice Nurse, Nurse Consultant, Nursing Supervisor, Compliance Nurse, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Certified Nursing Assistant. Referral bonuses of $1,000 will be paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire of the referred applicant.
NOTE:
This program is administered by the Department of State (DOS). The program may be terminated by the State at any time.
This is the entry level of practical nursing care. Positions report to a technical supervisor.
Essential Functions- Administers treatments as directed.
- Takes and records vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration).
- Pours, administers, charts and records medications.
- Gives prescribed intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and inoculations.
- Observes patient behavior and condition and reports changes to appropriate staff.
- Records information on patients' charts.
Requirements JOB REQUIREMENTS for Licensed Practical Nurse I
- Possession of a Delaware Practical Nurse license, Delaware temporary license or multi-state compact license.
- Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.
- At least six months experience as a Practical Nurse.
- Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.
- At least eighteen months experience as a Practical Nurse.

Conditions of HireAll new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.

Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.
Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
