In accordance with the Merit System Rules and Regulations, an eligible list, which will be valid for a one-year period, and which will be used to fill vacancies during that period, is being established for this classification. Operates television camera to inspect sewer lines and uses a sealing mechanism to repair defects in sewer lines; does related work as required.

An employee in this class operates a television camera and grouter (sealing mechanism) to inspect pipes for defects. The grouter is used to test and seal the line when defects are found. This employee is responsible for maintaining the grouter and auxiliary equipment and must be able to detect malfunctions in the television camera and its electronic components as well as replace malfunctioning components.

This employee supervises Trades Helpers and directs other personnel within the section who are needed in the operation to setup the job location, and perform pre-cleaning, or setup maintenance of traffic in order to complete the issued work orders.

• Using CCTV television camera and related equipment accurately observes, records, and documents conditions and reports observations in computer using PACP codes as outlined in NASSCO's PACP Reference Manual;
  Uploads data and completed videos to the CCTV software;
• Positions the equipment, cables, and cable reels and directs the movement of a CCTV camera and grouter mechanism through the sewer pipeline;
• Operates a television system and observes the television picture of the sewer line on a monitor to locate cracks, holes, drop lines, and other defects in the sewer line;
• Operates the grouter (sealing mechanism) to repair defects in the sewer line when detected;
• Operates locator and sounding equipment to mark out defects for repair;
• Performs and schedules preventive and corrective maintenance on the CCTV equipment, grouting equipment, and generator;
• Checks the electronic components of the CCTV system using an electronic test meter and replaces malfunctioning components when necessary;
• Mixes chemicals in correct proportions that form a gel which is used to repair the sewer line;
• Directs the assembly and set up of the CCTV camera and grouter with cable lines;
• Keeps a daily log of sewer lines inspected;
• Creates and updates work orders in the CMMS system;
• Performs operator maintenance on the truck;
• Promotes an ongoing attitude of dedication to excellent public service and ensures that external and internal customers are provided with the highest quality of service;
• Operates a personal computer, and other related equipment in the course of the work.

Good knowledge of the operation of CCTV equipment including the skill and ability to test this equipment to locate malfunctions and to do repairs; good knowledge of the principles and methods used in constructing sewer lines; ability to operate the grouter and to mix the chemicals used in the grouter; ability to repair the grouter and auxiliary mechanical equipment; ability to supervise;

ability to record data and keep accurate records pertaining to sewer lines and CCTV inspections; ability to take photographs; mechanical aptitude.
