Position: Fleet & Operations Specialist (Bilingual English/Spanish Required)

Port to Port International Corp. is a leading NVOCC specializing in the ocean shipment of used vehicles to Central America and beyond. It’s affiliated company, Port to Port Logistics LLC, provides inland transportation services, specializing in the movement of empty and loaded containers to and from ports in Wilmington, DE;
Philadelphia, PA; and Gloucester, NJ, with future expansion planned for Florida and Texas.

We partner with major ocean carriers including Chiquita, Dole, Seaboad Marine and Maersk. With a growing fleet of Freightliner trucks and an anticipated 30% increase in cargo volume, we are seeking a highly capable Fleet & Operations Specialist to support and optimize our expanding logistics operations.

Position Summary

The Fleet & Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing and optimizing trucking operations across multiple locations. This role ensures the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of containers to and from ports while supporting fleet growth and operational scalability.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detailed-oriented, and experienced in transportation logistics, with a proactive approach to problem-solving, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. This role requires strong collaboration with drivers, maintenance teams, and operations personnel to ensure the smooth, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of the fleet.

Key Responsibilities Fleet Operations & Logistics
  • Coordinate and oversee daily dispatch and scheduling of trucks to ensure timely opeations.
  • Ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of empty and loaded containers to meet port cut-offs and vessel sailings.
  • Monitor and optimize routes, fuel consumption, and driver assignments to maximize efficiency.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for fleet operations.
Driver Management & Compliance
  • Support driver recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing compliance with all applicable regulations (DOT, FMCSA, MC, UCR, IRP, IFTA, UIIA, NMFTA, SCAC, BOC-3).
  • Maintain accurate records of driver logs, pre-trip & post-trip inspections, and Hours-of-Service (HOS).
  • Communicate effectively with drivers regarding schedules, safety protocols, and operational updates.
  • Assist in driver training, performance monitoring, and evaluations.
Fleet Maintenance & Safety
  • Coordinate and track maintenance and repairs for trucks and chassis to minimize downtime.
  • Implement and manage a preventive maintenance program to ensure fleet reliability and safety.
  • Monitor inspections, registrations, and insurance renewals to ensure full compliance with federal and state vehicle inspection requirements.
  • Investigate and document mechanical issues, incidents, and accidents, ensuring timely resolution.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure all fleet documentation, permits, and records (fuel reports, maintenance logs, etc.) are accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
  • Generate and analyze reports related to fleet performance, fuel usage and operational costs.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers on claims, coverage, and liability matters.
Cost Control & Operational Efficiency
  • Monitor and manage fleet-related expenses, including fuel, repairs, tolls, and permits.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising safety or service quality.
  • Analyze financial and operational data related to fleet expenses to recommend cost and performance improvements.
Expansion & Strategic Growth
  • Support the acquisition, onboarding, and integration of new trucks and equipment.
  • Assist in planning for increased container volume by optimizing driver capacity and scheduling within the Delaware operation.
  • Collaborate with leadership to scale operations in Florida and Texas, replicating Delaware’s successful model.
  • Assist in the implementation and operational setup of new initiatives, including the Delaware banana transfer station.
Requirements Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in fleet coordination, transportation, or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of trucking operations, fleet management, and maintenance coordination.
