New Castle Correctional Facility is a multi-level security facility in New Castle, Indiana, with a capacity of 3,200 incarcerated adult males. It is the first DOC-owned, privately managed correctional facility in Indiana and has been operated by The GEO Group since 2005. The facility houses incarcerated individuals across security levels 1-4, including those with special needs and maximum-security classifications. Incarcerated individuals have access to medical care, educational services, therapeutic programming, and vocational training.

Staff support a rehabilitative approach that promotes accountability and growth. Partnerships help ensure individuals receive services tailored to their needs.

Role Overview:
As a Maintenance Technician at the New Castle Correctional Facility (NCF), you'll support daily repair and preventive maintenance in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds. This Monday-Friday role offers steady day shift hours from 7am to 3pm, strong safety practices, and a broad range of hands-on experience. NCF is unique in its on-site steam plant/boiler operations, giving you the chance to learn specialized skills beyond standard maintenance duties.

You'll also supervise incarcerated individuals on assigned tasks, ensuring safe and professional work completion. We provide structured training and a clear path for advancement into supervisory and leadership roles. This progression mirrors our statewide growth model:

Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Depending on the retirement plan you choose, the total compensation value of a $42,900.00 salary, including the State's retirement contributions, can reach approximately $69,822.98. This highlights the full value of your benefits package, beyond your take-home pay.

A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals. Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects. Oversee and participates in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles. Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.

Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures. Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.

What You'll Need for Success:
Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:
