About the position As a High Voltage Estimator, you will be responsible for the preparation of estimates, proposals, bid reviews, document reviews, cost value analysis, cost and systems reviews, analysis and comparisons, historical evaluations and bid processes, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations.

Day in the life
  • Responsible for the estimating activities of each project to ensure quality and accuracy of work, collecting quotes from subcontractors, performing estimates, scheduling tasks, achieving goals and standards.
  • Reviews all bid documents with the project manager and chief estimator to determine general expenses, labor rates and other costs associated with each project. Utilizes estimating software to properly estimate projects.
  • Surveys job sites as needed for scope of work and to determine the most cost‑effective and efficient plan possible.
  • Composes estimate documents in an accurate, complete, professional manner. Assists in the interview procurement process, proposal writing for RFPs, bids and related reports.
  • Ensures all estimates and RFPs meet the customer’s and Company’s conditions for satisfaction.
  • Works with the purchasing department to reduce material buyout risk. Works with the design department on design‑build and design‑assist projects to assure an accurate and constructible project. Provides coaching, mentoring and training to co‑workers as needed.
  • Consistently makes decisions in an attentive and safe manner to guarantee self‑ and others’ safety and health.
  • Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values by exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing diversity, equity and inclusion and providing high‑quality services and programs to clients, subcontractors, co‑workers, suppliers and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience in construction management or related field.
  • 1–5 years of electrical construction experience in estimating, knowledge of common code requirements and design/build estimating.
  • Must read, interpret and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints and specifications. Must have solid knowledge of electrical codes.
  • Basic training, experience and skills in project management; understanding of the project life cycle.
  • Strong process orientation.
  • Superior analytical and mathematical skills, conceptual estimating and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and report preparation.
  • Strong problem‑solving, detail orientation, time management and customer service skills.
  • NEC knowledge is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Estimating software knowledge (Accu‑Bid / Con Est / Blue Beam) recommended.
  • Substation experience is a plus.
Travel
  • Occasional travel may be required.
